The verdict

It was a huge moment for Wildsmith against Bolton with the keeper needing to produce a strong performance to show Darren Moore that he can be relied upon to be the Owls’ first choice keeper this season in League One.

Peacock-Farrell enjoyed a fine start to his loan spell with the Owls, but in recent times errors have started to creep into his game and that has led to concerns that he might not be as reliable an option to have between the sticks as was first thought.

That has somewhat opened the door for Wildsmith, although Moore has been consistent in backing Peacock-Farrell when speaking to the media about his recent errors in League One.

Wildsmith has to have at least put himself in Moore’s thoughts now though for next weekend and he faces a key decision over whether he should drop Peacock-Farrell for the 25-year-old now. That is all that the keeper could have hoped for when he stepped onto the field against Bolton.
