Swansea City defender, Joe Rodon, has expressed his delight as team-mate André Ayew confirmed he'd be staying at the club.

The Swans have started the season excellently and having come back from a loan at Fenerbahce, Ayew will be playing for Steve Cooper's side for the rest of the current campaign.

Swansea find themselves top of the league having remained unbeaten, winning five of their first six Championship fixtures.

They beat one of last season's play-off semi-finalists as Wayne Routledge scored a last minute winner at Elland Road to ensure the Swans went top.

Defender, Rodon, has been in fine form so far and is delighted that Ayew has committed to the club this season.

Speaking to BBC Sport Wales, Rodon said: "It's a massive bonus for the squad, and for the fans as well. He's come in and he's put his game to work straight away. He's been brilliant for us and hopefully he can keep doing it all season long.

"The manager, since he's come in has had a lot of one-to-one's with us and has involved the group a lot. He's been brilliant with the youngsters, and hopefully we can continue to getter better as a group."

The Verdict

What a big piece of business that could be for Swansea this season. To keep André Ayew is massive for the club and at Championship level, he can cause any side problems.

It'll be nice for Ayew to hear that one of his team-mates has spoken so positively about him staying at the club. Rodon has been a key figure in the Swans side this year, and has highlighted how beneficial Ayew can be in this league.

Cooper really seems to have taken to the job expertly, and it'll be interesting to see whether he can carry that on throughout the season. A win at Leeds has certainly made a lot of Championship supporters start to notice his side.
