Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley and former defender Matty Cash have both reacted to Michael Hefele’s message on his personal Instagram account after his departure from the City Ground.
Chris Hughton’s side announced in their retained list that Hefele would be leaving the City Ground this summer at the end of his contract with the club.
The defender’s time at Forest did not go as well as he would have been hoping for and he failed to establish himself as an important member of the side.
Hefele managed to make 15 Championship appearances for Nottingham Forest during the 2018/19 campaign after his arrival from Huddersfield Town. However, since then he has been on the fringes of their squad under a couple of different managers.
The former Huddersfield defender took to his personal Instagram account to issue a message to supporters and players thanking them for their support during his time with the club. While he also insisted that they would make it to the top-flight someday.
Quiz: What was the score the last time Nottingham Forest played each of these 25 teams?
Both Lolley and Cash were keen to react to Hefele’s message on his personal Instagram and the pair were both full of praise for the defender for his efforts at Nottingham Forest.
Lolley wrote: “The greatest team mate I’ll ever have the pleasure to play with.”
Cash wrote: “Legend.”
Hefele’s time at Forest was disappointing for him on a personal note and he was not able to have as much of an impact as he would have been hoping for when he made the move from Huddersfield. It had seemed like an astute signing when it was made given he had played a key role in helping the Terriers earn promotion to the top-flight in the 2016/17 season.
However, although his time on the pitch did not go to plan for the Reds, it seems that he was a very good player to have had in and around the dressing room at Forest. Lolley’s comments would show that he was well thought off around the club even if he was not making an impact on the field for most of his spell.
There will therefore be nothing but best wishes from Forest supporters towards Hefele as he looks to get his career going again with a fresh move this summer. He still has something to offer and could be a good addition to any squad that he ends up joining during the transfer window.
