Joe Lolley is a player who is not afraid to speak his mind on social media, and on this occasion stood up for the less privileged people in the UK.
In a response on Twitter to MP Liz Truss supporting Boris Johnson’s intended policy to raise the highest tax threshold, Lolley responded that the money could be better spent elsewhere – such as the NHS, elderly, disabled people or on those who use food banks.
Naturally, fans have responded positively to his call for greater public spending – with many fans getting in on the action.
It is not the first time Lolley has created somewhat of a Twitter storm, but usually it is his wit and humour that garners him attention.
It is good to see that some footballers are aware of the society in which they live and the hardships that people who sing their name face.
Here is some fan reaction to Lolley’s tweet.
You’re an unbelievable footballer but an even better bloke by the sounds of it! #superjoelolley

I love Joe Lolley, a class footballer but even better bloke. Reads books, politically aware and compassionate. Join the Villa!
