Coventry City boss Mark Robins has moved to provide an update on the fitness and future of Jodi Jones, with the 22-year-old attacker having so far only made two appearances for the Sky Blues this term due to injury.
Jones is currently on his way back to full fitness at St Andrew’s after missing a fair amount of the campaign and will no doubt be seeking to rediscover the sort of form that he displayed during the 2017/2018 campaign, in which the winger notched five goals and six assists in just over 15 games in the league.
Ahead of his side’s away game against lowly Southend United tomorrow, Robins has now moved to provide an update on the fitness of Jones, with the former Manchester United man stating the following to the Coventry Telegraph:
“He came to see me the other day and was asking how close do I think he is, and I don’t think he’s too far away.
“But there’s still a way to go and both he and I will know when it’s right.

“He’ll go, ‘right, I’m ready,’ but we’ll not need to speak about it because we will both know. And that’s a day everyone is looking forward to because he’s a talented player.”
Before the Coventry boss then went on to discuss the future of his player, with the 22-year-old’s future with the Sky Blues currently being up in the air due to the fact that his contract is set to expire this summer:
“I think we will be continuing to speak but I think we’ll be okay on that front.
“Clearly he has had a tough two years and he has to get a bit of stability in his life.”
Jones has been with the Sky Blues since July 2016 after signing from Dagenham and Redbridge, playing over 80 games for the Midlands based outfit so far.
Having Jones so close to making a return to the first team set up is sure to be a boost for Robins and the rest of the Coventry City squad, with the versatile attacker certainly capable of providing the difference in games which are so well fought.
The 22-year-old will be keen to show fans and pundits alike what he is all about once more after spending so many months on the sidelines this term, whilst he will also be keen to get his future tied up as well.
Meanwhile, the Sky Blues will be seeking to pick up yet another victory this weekend as they travel to Essex to take on a relegation-threatened Southend United side at Roots Hall on Saturday.
