Despite the season being underway, the summer transfer window is still very much ongoing.

After plenty of speculation over his future at Watford this summer, Emmanuel Dennis made the move back to the Premier League with a transfer to Nottingham Forest.

However, the Hornets were on hand to bring in a replacement and have announced the signing of Keinan Davis on a season-long loan deal from Aston Villa.

He's not the first player to come down from the top flight either with Hamza Choudhury also being named as a Watford man last week.

Jobi McAnuff continues to be impressed with the work of Rob Edwards this summer as he gave his verdicts on the new signings, telling Sky Sports Football: "The big thing with that [Dennis' departure] and Rob Edwards was about having a plan to replace him when he did go.

"By bringing in Keinan Davis, it's an excellent, excellent signing. A man who did incredibly well last season. Nottingham Forest was a big part of their success and their promotion.

"Also Hamza Choudhury went straight into the team versus Burnley and really strengthened that midfield area so I think two really big signings.

"I think from a recruitment point of view, a bit of forward planning and I think, all in all, it's actually a really good bit of business from Watford, to get the money they did for Dennis, a player who wasn't necessarily happy to stay in the Championship and bring two players in who are going to really, really strengthen a team who have started fantastically well."

The Verdict:

As McAnuff says, this is some great business from Watford who seem to have made a plan for their recruitment this summer which has paid off.

It seemed inevitable that Dennis would be leaving the club before the end of the transfer window but there were clearly plans in place which ensured replacements could come into the club almost straight away.

Watford have started the season well and with the names they're adding to the side you'd only expect that to continue.

The fact players are choosing to come down from the top flight speaks volumes about the project that's underway at Vicarage Road under Rob Edwards.
