Jobi McAnuff has stated that Cardiff may look to play three at the back to accommodate Sol Bamba's return to the side.

The former winger has said how important Bamba's return is going to be for Neil Warnock and his side as they look to stop conceding so many goals.

The Bluebirds have already conceded 16 goals so far this season, and haven't been solid like they were in the previous Championship campaign under Warnock.

Their away record is faltering, and the majority of points are being picked up on home territory as they look to find more consistency.

McAnuff feels that the Bluebirds could tweak their system to allow Bamba to come back in the side.

Speaking in the EFL Podcast on Bamba's return, McAnuff said: "It will be pivotal getting someone back with that experience, he's been there and done it with Cardiff. He was a key part of the team that got promoted previously and despite recruiting Aden Flint the goals conceded is something Neil Warnock will look at and want to improve.

"It will be interesting to see if there's a tweak or adjustment to the shape, playing three at the back to accommodate all of them, that'll be something to look out for moving forward."

The Verdict

It'll be very interesting to see what the Bluebirds do about Bamba coming back into the side. He is so experienced and so good at this level and simply has to start.

He's a brilliant centre-back for the Championship and with him in the side, Cardiff could play a very good back three with Aden Flint and Sean Morrison beside him.

Bamba played a crucial role in Cardiff getting promotion the last time they went up, so there's no reason why he can't do that again this season.
