Joao Pedro, Rob Elliot, Bachmann/Man Utd update: All the latest Watford transfer news

on

It has been a relatively slow start to the summer for Watford.

Following their relegation from the Premier League, you would have perhaps expected a busier summer so far in terms of outgoings and incomings, but things at Vicarage Road have been relatively calm compared to some other Championship clubs.

That being said, there are a number of transfer rumours swirling.

Here, we’ve brought you all the latest transfer news surrounding WD18.

Player departures

It was confirmed earlier today that both Rob Elliot and Josh King would be leaving the club with immediate effect.

Elliot was contracted until next summer, but the club state he will now consider retirement before deciding his next move.

King, meanwhile, was expected to depart with Hornets chairman Duxbury stating that he would leave the club in a recent interview.

Today’s statement came as confirmation of that move.

Can you remember how much Watford paid for these 22 summer signings?

Bachmann to United

Another news story surrounding Watford today revolves around Daniel Bachmann’s proposed move to Manchester United.

The move is now off, as per The Daily Mail.

They state: “They [United] were interested in Watford’s Daniel Bachmann, but Watford, justifiably, wanted a fee for a player with two years left on his contract and United were unwilling to pay what the Championship side wanted.”

With Maduka Okoye signed for Watford in January and having joined the club for pre-season training, it remains to be seen where Bachmann’s future lies.

Joao Pedro Portuguese links

Last but not least, another transfer story surrounding Watford claims that there is further interest in Brazilian forward Joao Pedro.

As per TeamTalk, FC Porto are now eyeing a move for the 20-year-old and are set to rival their league rivals Benfica for the young forward’s signature.

This comes after previous links with Liverpool, although it is unclear how concrete and credible those links are.

Given his ability, Watford will surely want to keep hold of the player this summer, but it remains to be seen whether or not they would be tempted by a big money offer.
