Lingard has made 22 appearances in all competitions for United this season, with his contract at the club set to expire this summer.
Marco Silva’s side are looking at ways of strengthening their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League next campaign.
Here, we’ve collected everything we know about the proposed transfer, so far.
What do we know so far?
Fulham’s interest in Lingard was recently brought to our attention by reporter Rudy Galetti, who reported that the Cottagers were monitoring Lingard’s situation ahead of the summer.
Galetti also stated that West Ham and Newcastle have shown an interest in the attacking midfielder, and that his priority was to stay in the Premier League.
Since Galetti’s tweet surfaced last week, we are yet to get any further updates on Lingard’s situation.
Is it likely to happen?
Fulham’s interest may well be very real, but this is not one that is likely to happen this summer.
Quiz: are these 12 Fulham facts from this season real or fake?
Lingard showed during his loan spell at West Ham last season that he is still a very good Premier League player if given a run of games, and if he can replicate the form he showed in claret and blue next season, he would simply be too good of a player to be involved in a relegation battle.
That is likely to be where Fulham find themselves next season, and with offers potentially on the table from West Ham and Newcastle, you would think Lingard would opt for those over a move to West London.
He has previous with West Ham United and they are likely to be playing some form of European football next season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United have bags of money to spend and are an exciting project, with genuine ambitions of going right to the top.
Unfortunately for Fulham, the proposition of a move to either of those clubs may be more exciting than one to Craven Cottage.
