Huddersfield might have narrowly missed out on a promotion to the Premier League this season but it appears as though they are looking to non-league to freshen up their squad, with Alan Nixon reporting via his Patreon that the side want Jesse Debrah from Halifax.

It seems as though a move for the player would be more of a deal for the future and would be the Terriers ensuring they have plenty of talent in reserve to eventually make their way through to the first-team.

A move to the Terriers would likely appeal to the defender too, with the player then able to go from playing in non-league to potentially getting a go if not in the Championship, then elsewhere in the Football League on loan.

The player also might not cost an arm and a leg, so could be a deal worth doing - and here is all we know about a potential agreement so far.

What do we know so far?

It looks as though there is certainly some interest in the player on the part of Huddersfield. There doesn't appear to have been any official bid for his services yet but he is certainly on their target list.

There also doesn't appear to be any other interested parties - which means the path should be clear for the Terriers to try and pounce for the defender during the offseason.

He might not be too well known beyond his current club either but his record as a 22-year-old with the side makes for decent reading. He made 24 appearances for the side during the campaign and was solid at the back for the side, with the potential to seemingly get even better.

He certainly must be viewed as a talent for a team like Huddersfield to consider a move too.

Is it likely to happen?

Again, there has been no official bid made yet and the player himself has yet to speak out on the interest. The same could be said by Halifax, who have also not spoken on the interest.

However, looking at the potential move on paper, you would be surprised to see the player turn a move down if an official offer is made.

Considering where he currently plays, the chance to jump up the football pyramid massively would surely appeal to the player. Even if he doesn't get straight into the side or in the squad, it appears he would be sent out on a short-term basis.

That could then give him the chance to play in either League One or Two - and that in itself is a step up right now. Considering a deal could also cost very little, it would be a surprise if a move didn't happen if the Terriers do make an official bid.
