Jermaine Beckford has praised goalkeeper Kiko Casilla after his positive performance against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Spanish keeper had a fine day and kept a clean sheet as Leeds United earned a hard-fought point in an entertaining game at Hillsborough.

Casilla made a number of key stops and would hope that he can keep his place for the majority of the campaign having made far less errors in the current season.

Leeds are now third in the league and will be hoping to achieve their ambitions of reaching the Premier League.

Former Leeds legend Beckford has expressed his thoughts on the keeper and insisted that despite him being crazy he's an excellent player for the Whites.

Talking to Sky Sports, Beckford said: “He’s somebody who definitely divides opinion.

I like him. I think he’s very lively. I’d just like him to be a little less crazy if I’m honest. He takes a couple of chances when he’s being closed down by forwards when he’s defending.

“Ultimately, he offers you the experience. He’s a big boy. And you can’t help but respect what he’s done and where he’s been. And that’s one of the reasons why he’s as good as he is.”

The Verdict

It's set to be an interesting season for the Whites and they'll be hoping that Casilla can keep his steady performances throughout the campaign and lead Leeds to promotion.

Marcelo Bielsa has made such a big difference during his time at Elland Road, and many feel it's just a matter of time before the Whites return to the top division.

Many questioned Casilla after his errors, especially in the play-offs but he's responded so well to his critics and has to carry that on as any mistake could be crucial in the race for promotion.
