Bradley Johnson has been looking back on a memorable Leeds United goal he once scored, with a few former Elland Road heroes weighing in with responses on social media.

Leeds was Johnson’s home between 2008 and 2011, with the midfielder helping the Whites to promotion into the Championship during the 2009/10 season.

However, a few years earlier Leeds were heading for the play-offs when they took on Gillingham on the final day of the regular season.

Gary McAllister’s side were trailing 1-0 , but Johnson lit up Elland Road with a thunderous volley following fine work from Seb Carole on the right-wing.

Johnson took to Instagram to relive the goal, but hidden in the replies were some former Leeds stars in the form of Jermaine Beckford and Robert Snodgrass.

Additionally, Carole shared a message with Johnson quite fittingly, given his incredible assist for the goal.

Johnson made over 100 appearances for Leeds during his time at Elland Road and since then has had spells with Norwich City and Derby County before making his way to current club, Blackburn Rovers.

The Verdict

The group of Leeds players that helped the club out of League One were close and seeing these types of exchanges aren’t a surprise.

The likes of Johnson, Beckford and Snodgrass were key to putting Leeds back in the Championship after a few dismal years in League One.

Yes, it was dismal for the Whites, but goals like Johnson’s would light up Elland Road, whilst the players have memories to last a lifetime.
