Jermaine Beckford is often revered as the one the finest strikers to don the white of Leeds United in the last decade.

Beckford has some brilliant moments at Elland Road, with the huge winning goal at Old Trafford often picked out as the standout effort from his time with the club.

Away from that famous goal which downed Man United, Beckford was also the hero of the season as Leeds won promotion from League One under Simon Grayson.

And it was Beckford's crucial goal during a promotion sealing 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers that still sits fondly in the memory of most Leeds fans. Beckford fired in to ensure Elland Road went into raptures on that fine day in 2010 and speaking to The Athletic, he has fond memories of the day in general.

“All I heard was a deafening silence. That’s what it was like everything stopped. It was a weird moment but it helped me to concentrate. It gave me the clarity of thought and the confidence to say, ‘I’ve got this." Beckford said.

“I could see the keeper was in mid-air and something my dad used to say to me came into my head: bounce it into the ground. Hit the floor. That’s what I did and the rest is history. The noise, my blue Powerade tongue, my Michael McIntyre skipping celebration. I’d promised a mate I’d do that if I scored. God knows how I remembered!"

Beckford also touched on the fact he had been awarded the captaincy that day by Grayson, and honour he is obviously so proud of during his interview.

"I was shaking. I never got nervous but the energy and the buzz, everything was tense", Beckford added.
