‘Jeeze’, ‘Missed our chance’ – Many QPR fans react as club figure reveals off-field setback

QPR have suffered a setback in their search for a new stadium and it now looks unlikely they’ll move in the next decade, which has caused a stir among fans of the west London club.

According to West London Sport, the club owners are keen to move away from the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium after more than 100 years at the location.

The Linford Christie Stadium site, which is also in the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, had been earmarked as a potential site in the past but their hopes of moving there have faded with majority shareholder Ruben Gnanalingam suggesting working with the local council has been an issue.

He said (via West London Sport): “It’s not easy to deal with this borough.

“We might need to look elsewhere to find other spaces which are more viable – and that’s what we are actively looking at right now.

“We don’t have a clear path towards any one of them.”

Gnanalingam has now admitted that this setback means it is unlikely the R’s will move away from the Loftus Road location in the next decade but added that the search is ongoing.

He said: “Within a two-mile radius is really what we’re looking at.

“We can’t really go south, so north and west we’re trying to figure out what we can find.

“We’re scanning. Are we talking to people? Yes. But does it look likely in the next 10 years? I think that’s going to be tough, to be honest.

“Number one there’s trying to find a site, then you’ve got to get people to agree to what you’d like to do – and then planning permission in this country is a mystery to most people, so that would probably take five years on its own.”

Do you know what club these 28 ex-QPR players are playing at now?
