Jay Tabb will be a well known name by Reading, Brentford, Coventry and Ipswich supporters after successful spells with each club in his footballing career - but it his career has taken an interesting turn.

The midfielder started his professional career with Brentford after he was released by Crystal Palace.

He made over 150 appearances in total for the Bees and was part of the side that gained promotion to League One in 2003/04, as he established himself as a regular in the starting XI.

The central midfielder then moved to Coventry and made another 100+ appearances across a three-year-spell with the Championship side, which is where he started to make a name for himself.

The now 34-year-old was soon snapped up by Berkshire based Reading in 2009, earning high praise from supporters at the Madejski Stadium for his hard work ethic and tough tackling in games.

Tabb was part of the Reading side that gained promotion to the Premier League in 2011/12, and he went on to make 16 appearances for the Royals in the top-flight before he was released at the end of the season.

His last move in professional football was to Ipswich Town. Tabb's last appearance for the Tractor Boys was in the 2015/16 season.

Tabb has since left his footballing career behind him and joined Rugby Union side Old Wimbledonians in 2017, where he has been a regular in the side that play in Surrey 1.

He was the club's top point scorer for last season, which is a remarkable achievement, and shows how quickly he has adjusted to the change of sport.
