Jarrod Bowen says he feels he had done everything he could during his time at Hull City.

Having originally joined the Tigers from non-league side Hereford back in the summer of 2014, Bowen went on to score 54 goals in 131 appearances in all competitions for Hull.

However, his time at the KCOM Stadium would come to an end on the final day of the 2020 January transfer window, when Bowen completed his move to Premier League side West Ham in a deal reported to be worth up to £25million.

In Bowen's absence, Hull have struggled hugely, failing to win a game since the attacker's exit, and slipping to 21st in the Championship table, just two points outside the relegation zone.

Despite that, it seems Bowen feels he had nothing more to give Hull, with the attacker quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, when talking about his move to West Ham, as telling TalkSport: “I felt I had done as much as I could at Hull, and I felt like I had earned this opportunity now.

“I’m starting down here again and I’ve got to work my way up with my time here. Hopefully, it’s a very long time. It’s everyone’s dream to play in the Premier League and, when a team like West Ham came in for me, it was a no-brainer.

“Look at the stadium. When I signed, I went to the stadium and I looked around and got to take it all in. It’s incredible.

“Making my home debut, coming out in front of all those people. That’s when it hit me. That was what I dreamed of. I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Since joining West Ham, Bowen has made four appearances for the Hammers, scoring his first goal for the club in their 3-1 win over Southampton at the end of February.

The Verdict

This is an interesting one.

When you look at his returns for Hull over the past season-and-a-half prior to his move to West Ham, it certainly seems as though Bowen had earned his shot in the Premier League with the Hammers, and you could certainly understand their interest in him.

However, when you look at the struggles Hull have endured recently, and the promising start he has made to life back in the Premier League, it does seem as though the Tigers would still have benefitted from his influence over the past few months, even if Bowen himself feels otherwise.
