Leeds United are likely to lose winger Jack Clarke in January, if he continues to be frozen out of the first team at Elland Road, according to Football Insider.

The 18-year-old was a key player for Leeds in the Championship last season and was able to establish himself in the first team at Elland Road, scoring two goals in 25 appearances for the Whites in all competitions.

Clarke joined Tottenham Hotspur this summer for a reported fee of around £10million, although he immediately returned to Leeds on a season-long loan, to allow him to gain more experience.

However, Clarke has really struggled to make for Leeds since his return to Eland Road and has only made two appearances for the Whites all season, with both of them coming in the Carabao Cup.

According to Football Insider, Spurs have the option to recall Clarke from his loan spell in January and are likely to exercise that option, unless he is given more a chance in the first team at Leeds.

The report states that if Spurs to decide to recall Clarke, they are likely to send him out on loan to another Championship side - one where he will have more of a chance to play regular first-team football.

Leeds are currently third in the Championship table after winning four of their opening six league matches and face Yorkshire rivals Barnsley at Oakwell after the international break.

The Verdict

When Leeds announced that Clarke would be returning to the club on loan this season, it seemed like a great move for all parties.

The teenager was able to establish himself as one of the brightest young talents in the Championship last season, but things just haven't worked out from him since his return to Elland Road and he's really struggled to make an impact.

He hasn't even been included in the squad for the last four matches and if he isn't given a chance soon, Spurs could really regret sending him back to Leeds on loan.

His loan spell so far has been a disaster and unless things change soon, it will probably be the right decision for Spurs to recall him in January.
