Aston Villa are looking good to challenge for the play-offs this season with them going along very nicely indeed in the second tier.

The sluggish start to the campaign seems to have been forgotten now and there looks to be a bit of confidence and swagger about the Villa squad right now.

Certainly, those are attributes you couldn't have used to describe Villa in recent years, but fans will certainly be looking to the future now without worrying about that too much.

We think, though, it might be time to look back to the past just once more in terms of signing players and that Aston Villa should try and sign Ashley Westwood back from Burnley in the Premier League.

The central midfielder has been at Burnley for some time but he's never really nailed a first ream spot down - something he'd surely have more chance of doing at Villa.

Indeed, though Villa have some good midfielders like Conor Hourihane and Henri Lansbury, they could still do with that extra player that can pass the ball about in the middle of the pitch.

As Villa get stronger this season teams are going to more and more likely sit deeper and try to hit them on the break so they are going to have to be patient and creative with possession.

They'll need someone who is more than adept at doing just that, then, and we think Westwood is the perfect player for that.
