Huddersfield Town head coach Jan Siewert has confirmed that Rajiv van la Parra will be part of the squad to face Lincoln City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, as he continues to be linked with a move away from the club.

The 28-year-old forward has not featured for Huddersfield since October last year and spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough.

His future at the John Smith's Stadium is uncertain and according to Turkish outlet Gundem Besiktas, Turkish top-flight club Besiktas have been offered the chance to sign him.

Van la Parra struggled to make an impact while on loan at Middlesbrough last season, making just five appearances during his time at the Riverside Stadium.

The forward made just five appearances for Huddersfield last season and has not featured for the Terriers since a 1-1 draw at Burnley in the Premier League in October.

He was not included in the squad for either of their opening two games this season - a 2-1 home defeat to Derby County and a 1-1 draw at Queens Park Rangers - but Siewert has confirmed that he will be included in the squad for the cup tie against Lincoln tomorrow night.

The Verdict

Van la Parra is a decent player, but it's fair to say that things haven't worked out for him at Huddersfield.

He doesn't appear to be in Siewert's plans for the coming season, so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him leave the club before the end of the European transfer window.

He's got one year left on his contract at Huddersfield, so it makes sense for the club to sell him now rather than allow him to leave on a free transfer next summer.

It will be interesting to see whether he can get his career back on track in Turkey with Besiktas, should he move there.
