Huddersfield Town manager Jan Siewert has admitted that he shares the frustrations of the club's fans following their poor start to the season.

The Terriers have taken just one point from their opening two games of the Championship season, and are out of the League Cup after a 1-0 defeat to newly-promoted League One side Lincoln City on Tuesday night.

Following that defeat at the John Smith's Stadium, a number of Huddersfield fans took the opportunity to voice their opinion on the direction the club is heading, with many far from impressed.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of his side's Championship meeting with Fulham on Friday, Siewert revealed that he has sympathy with those supporters, saying: “I understood the reaction of the supporters because I was massively disappointed too."

Discussing his response to the defeat, the German added: “I have spoke to the players about it and I expect them to show more fight.”

Since Siewert replaced fellow countryman David Wagner as Terriers boss in January, Huddersfield have won just one of their 18 games under the leadership of the 36-year-old.

The Verdict

It looks as though the pressure is really starting to grow on Siewert.

The fact that it has got to the stage where he is having to address the fans' frustrations highlights just how serious the club's situation has become.

You feel that that will have been noticed just as much by the club's board and hierarchy as it has by Siewert himself, and that is probably not good news for the German.

Just how the players respond to that discussion with Siewert will be interesting, and that has to be an indicator of just how strong a backing the manager has from within the dressing room.

Even so, one win from 18 is simply not good enough for any side, and something is going to have to change sooner rather than later, be that results or personnel.
