It is most likely that Rovers will need to pick-up six points from their remaining two fixtures to have any chance of punching their way past Sheffield United and into the play-offs.

They welcome Bournemouth to Ewood Park on Saturday before a trip to Birmingham City rounds off the campaign, if they can return to their high performance levels from the middle third of the season, they cannot be written off yet.

The Verdict

Jan Paul van Hecke has been mightily impressive in just his second loan spell away from Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Dutchman appears to have a big future ahead of him at just 21, and will have a lot of suitors for next term if he is loan listed once again.

With just one year remaining on his deal on the South Coast, there is a chance that he is involved in the first team setup next season.

John Buckley deserves a lot of credit for his performance in the derby win, the 22-year-old was dictating play at times and arrowed a well-struck drive past Daniel Iversen to give the visitors a two-goal cushion, thankfully he is one asset who has been tied down to a long term contract.
