West Brom will be hoping to bring in a few new signings in the January window, with attacking players sure to be the priority.

Valerien Ismael's men are currently fourth in the Championship but fans are unhappy with the football the team are playing, with Albion having failed to find the net in their last three games.

Therefore, a number nine is sure to be a priority but the Baggies also need more goals from other positions, so links to Swansea City's Jamie Paterson is sure to excite fans.

The 29-year-old has scored eight times and registered four assists in 20 games this season and here we assess a potential switch to The Hawthorns...

Is it a good potential move?

For West Brom it certainly would be!

Paterson has been one of the outstanding performers in the league this season and he has just six months left on his contract, so he wouldn't command a big fee either.

However, the player would surely have doubts. He has flourished under the guidance of Russell Martin, with the Welsh side also in the mix for promotion as well, so it would be a big risk to jeopardise the great form he is in by moving elsewhere.

Swansea seems like the ideal place for Paterson but you can never be sure in football.

Would he start?

Yes, with the way he is playing.

Ismael's 3-4-3 formation means Paterson would occupy one of the two wide attacking positions behind a central striker, and, in fairness, Albion do have a lot of quality for those roles, with Callum Robinson, Matt Phillips, Grady Diangana and Karlan Grant all options.

But, Paterson would bring different qualities with his intelligence and creativity and his form this season means he would surely get a chance in the XI if he joined.

What does he offer?

As touched upon, the former Bristol City man is a clever player who times his runs into the box well, is technically sound and has an eye for goal.

He has shown his class for the Swans this season, with their attacking approach getting the best out of the player. You could argue that West Brom's style is completely different, but you would still back Paterson to adapt if he did move.
