Jamie Paterson has taken to Twitter to share a message with Swansea City's supporters after committing his future to the club by signing a contract extension.

As confirmed by the club's official website, Paterson is now set to remain at the Swansea.com Stadium until 2024.

Signed by Swansea last year on a free transfer, the 30-year-old went on to deliver a host of impressive performances for the club during the 2021/22 campaign.

As well as scoring nine goals for the Jacks, Paterson also provided nine assists for his team-mates in 39 league appearances.

A key member of Swansea's squad, the attacking midfielder will be determined to help Swansea reach new heights in the Championship next season.

Having finished 15th in the league standings earlier this year, the Jacks will be keen to make a positive start to the upcoming campaign.

Swansea are set to take on Rotherham United on the opening weekend of the season in July.

Reflecting on his new contract extension on Twitter, Paterson has admitted that he is buzzing to have reached an agreement with Swansea.

Paterson posted: "Buzzing to sign a new contract!

Here's to the good times ahead, let's go!"

The Verdict

When you consider that Paterson's contract was set to expire in 2023, Swansea will be equally as delighted as the midfielder that an agreement has been reached over an extension

Paterson demonstrated during the previous campaign that he is more than capable of providing an abundance of creativity in the Championship.

As well as being directly involved in 18 goals at this level, Paterson averaged a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.83 in the second-tier.

By maintaining his consistency as well as his fitness next season, the former Bristol City man could play a key role in helping Swansea push forward as a club.

Providing that the Jacks are able to add some more fresh faces to their squad in the coming weeks, there is no reason why they cannot hit the ground running with Paterson in their side.
