Doncaster Rovers’ defender Jamie McCombe believes they have the ability to get promoted at the first time of asking.
Speaking to the club’s website, the 31-year-old said “After last season, everyone has come back with a point to prove so hopefully we can hit the ground running.
“It would be great to replicate what happened two years ago when we were champions of League One. Every club wants to get promoted but with the squad we’ve got and the quality of football we know we can play, our aim has to be to bounce straight back.”
McCombe, 31, missed the majority of last season with a back injury but is feeling positive about next season.
“It’s great to be able to take part this year, it’s a really good feeling to be back.
“Last year was difficult for me, but I’ve worked hard all the way through the summer with Ben Rome and everything has gone well and according to plan and I’m enjoying being able to run pain free.”
Rovers, who were relegated from the Championship on the last day of the season, start their pre-season tomorrow (Wednesday) away to Bradford PA.
