Sunderland's 2018/19 league campaign ended in disappointment, as they were beaten 2-1 by Charlton Athletic in the League One Play-Off final at Wembley.

The result condemned the Black Cats to another season in the third tier of English football, much to the frustration of the Stadium of Light faithful.

The behind the scenes action from that season was all captured on Netflix's Sunderland 'Till I Die documentary, which has drawn in a significant amount of attention from supporters across the UK.

Former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher took to Twitter to issue his one-word verdict on Sunderland's documentary, and was clearly impressed by what he watched.

Sunderland will be hoping they can win a timely promotion back into the Championship this season, which is certainly an achievable target heading into the conclusion of this year's campaign.

Phil Parkinson's side are currently sat seventh in the third tier standings, but are just three points adrift of the automatic promotion places.

Due to recent events, Sunderland aren't due back in action until the 3rd May, when they're set to take on promotion rivals Rotherham United at the New York Stadium.

The Verdict:

I have to agree with Carragher here.

Even though Sunderland's season ended up in disappointment, it's a fascinating insight into how a club is run behind the scenes, with many supporters not knowing half of what goes on off the pitch.

As a neutral, it's intriguing to watch, but it's understandable that Sunderland supporters might switch off when it comes to the Play-Off Final game against Charlton as they won't want to relive that memory.

Sunderland will be hoping to go one step better this season though under the management of Phil Parkinson, with the Black Cats well-placed to challenge for a Play-Off spot in League One.
