Port Vale are in need of a result to push themselves back towards the play-off places after their 3-1 defeat to Swindon Town on Saturday.

Lucas Covolan received his marching orders in first half additional with backup goalkeeper Aidan Stone replacing him with the score at 1-1.

Vale have played less games than all but three of the teams in League Two and will remain confident of pushing on to finish in the top seven this season.

Kian Harratt, Ryan Edmondson, Chris Hussey and Connor Hall have bolstered Vale's squad already this month, with Darrell Clarke assembling one of the better starting line-ups in the division on paper.

Salford City had picked up seven points from their last three before losing out to Bradford City at the weekend, only a win will do at Vale Park for Gary Bowyer's men to keep pace with the play-off chasing pack.

Here, we are predicting just the one enforced change from the defeat to Swindon to line-up against Salford on Tuesday evening...

Vale rank fifth on points per game and will be viewing this encounter as a chance to get back on track.

Chris Hussey and David Worrall provide so much League Two knowhow and quality of delivery from wide areas that the strike-force of Harratt and Wilson should be able to profit from.

There is a lot of competition for places at the top of the pitch with the likes of David Amoo largely restricted to substitute appearances this term.

With only really Sutton United and Mansfield Town playing on Tuesday evening as direct rivals to Vale in the table, this match represents a great opportunity for Clarke's men to gain on those around them and begin to re-ignite their automatic promotion push.
