Tranmere Rovers have announced that defender Manny Monthe has signed a new two-year deal with the club, keeping him at Prenton Park until the summer of 2021.

The Birkenhead club have been dealt a huge blow over the last couple of days, with the news that star-man James Norwood has signed for Ipswich Town on a free transfer, upon the expiry of his contract.

But Micky Mellon has now ensured that another one of Rovers' star players will be signed up for the next couple of years, with Monthe signing a new deal with the club.

The 24-year-old signed for Tranmere from League Two play-off semi-finalists Forest Green Rovers last summer, after an impressive loan spell at Prenton Park in the 2017/18 campaign.

The central defender was like a brick wall for Mellon's side last season, putting in a series of solid performances at the back, and making a total of 54 appearances as Tranmere won promotion to League One.
