James Norwood was back amongst the goals for Ipswich Town, in a 3-1 win over Southend United at Roots Hall on Saturday afternoon.

The 29-year-old made his return to first-team action in midweek after a short spell on the sidelines, but was unable to make an impact as the Tractor Boys fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Rotherham United.

But Paul Lambert's side bounced back with an important win against the struggling Shrimpers on Saturday afternoon, with Norwood grabbing a brace as Town won by three goals to one.

It was vital that Ipswich got back to winning ways at the weekend after a mini blip of late, and they sit level on points with Wycombe Wanderers at the top of the Sky Bet League One table after 14 games.

That's now seven goals in 13 games for Norwood this season, and with Kayden Jackson also getting on the scoresheet once again, Town certainly have one of the most deadliest strikeforces in the division.

After the game, Norwood took to

The Verdict

That was a big, big win for Ipswich at the weekend - it looked like it could be a potential banana skin with Sol Campbell taking the reins for the first time.

But Ipswich were professional, they looked solid and they took their chances when they came their way.

They have made an excellent start to the season and they will be pleased to get back to winning ways after a couple of disappointing results.
