James Norwood is determined to win his third successive promotion with Ipswich Town this season.

The 28-year-old joined Ipswich on a free transfer from Tranmere Rovers on a free transfer last month, signing a three-year deal at Portman Road.

The centre-forward enjoyed a prolific season for Tranmere last term and scored 32 goals in all competitions, as Rovers won promotion to League One via the play-offs.

Norwood arrives at Portman Road after winning back-to-back promotions with Tranmere and is hoping to score the goals to fire the Tractor Boys to the Championship this season.

The striker admitted that Ipswich boss Paul Lambert persuaded him to move to Portman Road and revealed that he turned down the chance to move to the Championship to sign for the Tractor Boys.

"It's the biggest of my career without a shadow of a doubt," Norwood told the East Anglian Daily Times.

"I've been grafting away in the lower leagues, having a good season last season. The gaffer here came and watched and I met him a couple of weeks ago, with things then going quite quickly.

"I bought into what he was saying and the way he wanted to plays, so fit-wise it was perfect for me. There were teams in the Championship that were an option, but for me it was about doing something special.

"I've got two promotions in the last two years and I want more."

Ipswich finished bottom of the Championship last season and will be one of the teams hoping to challenge for automatic promotion from League One next season.

The Verdict

Norwood is a great goalscorer and I think he will turn out to be a fantastic signing for Ipswich. The fact that he turned down the chance to move to the Championship shows just how determined he is to achieve success at Portman Road.

The striker will be full of confidence after last season and I expect him to make a big impact in League One next term.

Ipswich have got some talented attacking players, so Norwood will probably get a lot more chances to score goals than he did at Tranmere last season.

There were plenty of games last season were Ipswich dominated games but failed to take their chances, but I'm sure Norwood will be able to help change that next season.
