James Maddison has described Mario Vrancic as 'one of the best' free-kick takers he has seen after his remarkable winner for Norwich City against Wycombe yesterday.

The Canaries looked set for a point against Wanderers until the Bosnian struck a fantastic stoppage time free-kick after a debatable decision went their way.

Whilst that will have angered Wycombe, there's no denying the quality from Vrancic, as he curled the ball over the wall.

And, it appeared to catch the eye of the Leicester City midfielder, who moved to the Foxes after a successful spell at Carrow Road. Maddison took to Twitter to praise the left-footer and his quality from a dead ball.

"Mario is one of the best free kick takers I’ve ever practised with. Doesn’t surprise me that they fly in the top corner quite regularly in big moment."

The victory was the Yellows third in a row and it moved Daniel Farke's men up to fifth in the Championship table ahead of a midweek clash at fellow promotion hopefuls Brentford.

The verdict

It's nice for Norwich fans to see that Maddison still keeps an eye on how the club are doing and there won't be many arguments with his assessment on Vrancic!

The goal against Wycombe was nothing new, he has scored from that range time and again, so it wasn't a surprise to anyone watching.

It's such a great weapon for the team to have and you can expect to see many more free-kicks scored by the playmaker as the campaign progresses.
