Luton Town are enjoying a heck of a season.

After narrowly avoid relegation last term the feeling was that this season could see the Hatters battling to escape the drop once again, however it seems that they had nothing to worry about!

Luton are currently sitting safely in mid-table as we move into the final knockings of the Championship season which means that they can focus on enjoying the remaining weeks of the season and take stock of the good work done.

In truth the last 10 years or so has seen the Hatters make real progress, but who would be in the club's best XI of the last decade? Let's take a look at who we picked!

Despite being a Peterborough United lad, there's no doubt as to who would be in goal.

Tyler started his career with the Posh and stayed with the club until the age of 32 when his contract was mutually terminated.

It was then that he started his love affair with Luton Town.

The goalkeeper joined the club in 2019 and spent seven years with the club and made almost 300 appearances as he helped the club to win the Conference Premier and secure a long-awaited return to the EFL.

He might not be the best goalkeeper that Luton have ever have but there's no doubt that he's deserving of a spot in our side.

It's hard to dispute his involvement in our Luton Town XI.

After starting his career with Reading, Stacey spent time on loan with Barnet, Carlisle United and Exeter City before making a move to Luton Town in 2017.

What followed was an incredibly successful two years which the full-back was very much a central part of.

Stacey helped Luton to back-to-back promotions from League Two to the Championship between 2017 and 2019 before being offered the chance to join then-Premier League side Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old is still with the Cherries and now regarded as one of the best full-backs in the second tier.

The commanding defender is certainly deserving of a spot in our side.

A graduate of Liverpool's academy set-up, the central defender is the definition of a leader - a reputation that has stuck with him throughout his career.

McNulty spent time with Vauxhall Motors, Barrow and Fleetwood Town before moving to Luton Town in 2013 where he spent three years of his career.

In that time he helped the Hatters to promotion from the Conference Premier and was even named as vice-captain in his second season, and club captain in his third campaign with the club.

After making more than 100 appearances McNulty completed a move to Tranmere Rovers with his Luton legacy very much intact.

Another centre back who spent his formative years in Merseyside.

Pilkington started his youth career with Everton but made his first team breakthrough with Port Vale before moving on to Luton Town in 2008.

He helped the Hatters to win the League Trophy in his first season with the club, but did suffer relegation with the club as they fell out of the Football League.

But Pilkington stuck around to help the club and was named captain as they reached back-to-back play-off finals only to fall short.

While he never secured promotion before moving on there was no doubt that he was a popular figure among the Hatters' fans.

Another player who has really gone on to excel in the game.

Justin started his youth career with Luton Town having been born and raised in the area, making him something of a hometown hero.

The left-back broke into the Luton side in 2016-17 and immediately became a fans' favourite at Kenilworth Road due to his energetic, all-action displays.

Justin helped the Hatters to secure back-to-back promotions during his time at the club before completing a move to Premier League side Leicester City in 2019.

While he scored against Luton on his debut for the Foxes there's no doubt that he's highly-regarded by the Luton fans as they watch one of their own compete at the highest level.

A player who is a vital part of Luton Town's side at the moment.

Rea started his career with Brighton & Hove Albion and enjoyed loan spells with Southend United and the Hatters during his time on the South Coast.

The midfielder enjoyed his time at Kenilworth Road so much that he agreed a permanent switch in 2016 and has rarely looked back since.

In the five years since then, Rea has played a key role in helping Luton Town to move from League Two to the Championship and continues to be a key player for Nathan Jones' side.

At 26 years of age the feeling is that Rea still has plenty more to offer and I'm sure that supporters are looking forward to seeing what that is in the coming years.

The midfielder is a long-standing favourite at Kenilworth Road.

After starting his career with Boreham Wood, Ruddock moved to West Ham United in 2011 where he continued his development into the professional game.

After a loan spell with Luton the midfielder completed a permanent move to the Hatters in 2014 - a time when they were still playing in the Conference Premier.

Since then the powerful star has helped the club to three promotions and continues to be a first team regular for the club as they compete in the Championship.

It's been quite a rise for the midfielder and the feeling is that he really epitomises what the club has achieved in recent years.

A player who is undoubtedly one of the most talented to play for the club of late.

Dewsbury-Hall started his career with Leicester City and is still seen as one for the future by the Foxes as he continues to learn the game.

After a loan spell with Blackpool last term the midfielder stepped up to the Championship this season where he was given the chance to thrive by Luton Town.

The Hatters have enjoyed a good season as they sit in a mid-table position and there's no escaping that the central midfielder has arguably been their most impressive performer so far this term.

Whether he'll be tempted back again next term remains to be seen but it seems almost certain that Dewsbury-Hall will be playing in the Premier League before too long.

Another player who perhaps wasn't the most talented to ever play for Luton Town, but his impact must not be underestimated.

Guttridge was something of an EFL journeyman having started his career with Torquay United before enjoying spells with Cambridge United, Southend United and Northampton Town.

In 2013 the attacking midfielder signed for Luton Town in the Conference Premier and played a key role in securing promotion back to the EFL by scoring 13 goals and assisting 9 others in 32 league games.

He then scored four goals after winning promotion which led to him triggering a clause for a new contract with the club - however this was mutually terminated in January 2016.

Guttridge has since retired from the game but will always be fondly remembered for the role he played at a crucial time in the club's history.

Arguably one of the best players to play for the club during the last decade.

After coming through the ranks with Shrewsbury Town, Gray got his first real break after joining Hinckley United in 2010.

During his time there the striker went on loan to Luton Town in the Conference Premier before signing a permanent deal with the Hatters in 2012.

Gray spent two seasons with the club and was Luton's top scorer with an impressive 30 goals in 44 appearances during the promotion-winning campaign in 2013-14, taking his overall Luton tally to 50 goals over the two seasons.

He then went on to join Brentford in the Championship before thriving in the Premier League with both Burnley and Watford.

Another contender to be one of Luton's most important players of the last decade.

Collins came through the ranks with Aston Villa but went on to play for the likes of Shrewsbury Town, Swindon Town and Hibernian as he looked to establish himself in the EFL.

After a successful season with Crawley, the striker signed for Luton Town in 2017.

Since then Collins has helped the club to two successive promotion from League Two to the Championship, while scoring an impressive 14 goals in Luton's first season back in the second tier.

This term has seen the 30-year-old notch 10 goals so far, establishing himself as a modern day club favourite for his role in firing the club to where they are.
