James Hill is aiming for promotion with Bournemouth, as the defender reveals his ambitions at his new club.

Hill admitted his delight with completing the move in recent days and has been vocal about pushing for promotion for the club this season.

"I think it's just exciting because I think promotion is really on the cards for this club,” said Hill, via the Bournemouth Echo

"I really want to be a part of that and no matter if it’s top of the league we’re playing or it’s bottom of the league, I think you attack every game the same.

"I really think that this club's got that to a tee and I think we can really push for promotion."

Hill signed for Bournemouth from Fleetwood Town for a fee of £1.6 million. The 19-year old featured 13 times in League One for Fleetwood. However, he made his debut for the club at only 16-years old in an EFL Cup game.

Hill has also featured for the England U20s, debuting in a 6-1 drubbing of the Romania U20s side.

Scott Parker’s side are pushing for automatic promotion to the Premier League. The Cherries lead the Championship with 49 points from 25 games.

However, Fulham are four points behind in third and they have two games in hand on the league leaders. Blackburn Rovers are one point behind Bournemouth by one point.

Bournemouth won their two most recent league games, which ended a six game winless run.

Those wins came against QPR and Cardiff City. Their next game is away to Yeovil Town in the FA Cup Third Round on January 8.

Bournemouth’s league campaign continues on January 15 with a trip to Luton Town.

The Verdict

This is the right thing for Hill to come out and say.

Joining a club like Bournemouth can be daunting for the player, but this is the right attitude to have.

His confidence will be needed because without that then he will never make it at the club.

He will be hoping he doesn’t have to wait too long for his debut so he can help Bournemouth achieve that goal of promotion.
