QPR are reportedly leading the race to sign Bournemouth forward Jamal Lowe.

According to Sky Sports (09/01, 17.51), the London side are set to beat out the likes of Ipswich Town and Norwich City to the signing of the Cherries player.

Lowe has struggled for game time since Bournemouth gained promotion to the Premier League, featuring just twice this season.

That has led to speculation surrounding his future at the Vitality, with Neil Critchley now seeking to bring the 28-year old to the Championship side.

The forward has plenty of experience at this level, having previously spent the last three seasons competing in the second tier with the likes of Wigan Athletic, Swansea City and Bournemouth.

Here we weigh up what a move to QPR could mean for the player and the club…

Is it a good potential move?

This would be a solid move for QPR, who could use the additional options in their attack.

There is not a lot of depth at QPR in their forward line, so this would give Critchley some rotation alternatives.

Lowe needs to get out of Bournemouth if he wants to earn regular playing time, and Rangers could provide him with the minutes he needs to keep his career active.

This would be a solid move for both parties and an opportunity for the forward to enhance his reputation at this level.

Would he start?

Tyler Roberts has emerged as the first choice right winger for QPR under Critchley, having started the last couple of league games.

Those appearances mean that the Leeds United forward cannot have his loan terminated by Rangers this month.

This will provide the competition that Lowe will have to go up against for regular minutes at Loftus Road.

Injuries have plagued Roberts this season so in all likelihood Lowe will earn plenty of playing time as rotation will be key for the fitness of both players in what is likely to be a busy second half of the campaign.

What does he offer?

Lowe has scored 27 goals in 131 league appearances, with just 94 of those coming as starts.

The right-winger will be able to provide fresh legs with his lack of game time perhaps being an advantage at this stage of the season.

That may allow him to make an immediate impact at QPR.

Lowe can also fill in more centrally which should provide Critchley with the kind of flexibility he will desire in his attack.
