Leeds United’s goalkeeper Jamal Blackman made his full debut for the club in Tuesday night’s League Cup win.

Bolton Wanderers were the latest team to fall foul of Marcelo Bielsa’s side as they were seen off 2-1 at Elland Road.

Blackman put in a solid performance during his first 90-minutes for the Championship side since his season-long switch from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old was pleased to get his first appearance under his belt, taking to Twitter to express his happiness at making his debut, and progressing to the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Blackman joined the Championship side after a successful loan spell with Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United last season.

Leeds currently sit second in the division and are through to the next round of the League Cup in what has been an unbeaten start to the season so far with a home clash with Rotherham United to come this Saturday.

The Verdict

Jamal Blackman is clearly delighted to have made his debut for Leeds on Thursday, be it a cup game or not.

After having a successful season with Sheffield United last term and playing an integral part on their relatively successful season, he will want more of a taste of the nights he experienced on Tuesday.

It will be difficult to revert to the bench, but the appearances in the cup should serve as added motivation to force his way into the first team.
