Jake Livermore shares his thoughts on Kyle Edwards’ start to the season for West Brom

Jake Livermore has heaped praise on his West Brom teammate Kyle Edwards and believes he has been an unsung hero for the Baggies so far this season.

Albion have made an excellent start to the season under Slaven Bilic and are currently second in the league table going into their clash with Birmingham City at St Andrew’s tomorrow.

There is still a long way to go this season, but the Baggies have put themselves in a brilliant position to return to the Premier League – they’re already eleven points ahead of third-placed Fulham in the promotion race.

A lot of the Baggies success this season has been down to the attacking trio of Matheus Pereira, Grady Diangana and Matt Phillips, who have excelled in Bilic’s 4-2-3-1 system.

However, Livermore, who has been an extremely important player for West Brom this season, believes Kyle Edwards also deserves a lot of credit for the way he has challenged for a place in Bilic’s starting XI.

Speaking to the Express & Star, the Baggies skipper praised the 21-year-old and described him as an unsung hero.

“It makes our life a lot easier, with the movement they possess up front. Little Kyle, he’s been fantastic every time he’s come on and pulled on the shirt. I think he’s another who is a bit of an unsung hero.

“Even in training he’s pushing the others every day. In my opinion, if he was at any other team in the league he’d be playing.

“We’re very fortunate to have four sticks of dynamite up there. It’s wonderful to look up and see the movement. The pace, power and quality they all possess is a joy to play alongside and to watch from afar.”

The Verdict

West Brom have been magnificent so far this season and thoroughly deserve to be where they are in the league table. The whole team has been excellent, but the likes of Pereira, Diangana and Phillips have been pretty exceptional.

However, as Livermore pointed out, Edwards has also played an important role too and deserves a lot of credit for that.

He’s an exciting and talented player, and has shown with his performances that he could have a big role to play in the Baggies’ promotion push.
