Ian Poveda has had little impact at Leeds United, but he will be hoping that will change if the remaining nine games of the Championship season are played.

Leeds swooped to sign Poveda from Man City in the January transfer window, but he’s still waiting for his debut for the Whites, with his only impact so far coming in the under-23s.

Yet, the EFL’s forced postponement has given Poveda a further chance to settle in at Elland Road, with the first-team’s return to training giving the winger hope of a chance to impact the remainder of the season.

Quiz: Have Leeds United done these 15 things in the last 10 years? – Yes or no?

On his return to Thorp Arch, the 20-year-old issued a cheeky message the way of Boris Johnson with regard to social distancing, which received plenty of reaction on Instagram.

And, in addition to a host of Leeds fans, Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho also issued his response to his ex-Man City teammate:

Of course, Sancho and Dortmund have returned to action, with the winger registering an assist in the weekend’s win over Wolfsburg.

The Verdict

Sancho and Poveda will know each other well from their younger days, so like a lot of footballers, will stay in contact through Instagram and other platforms.

Poveda’s career is still waiting to take off in the same respect as Sancho, but Elland Road could be the place for that to happen.

He’s settled in now and clearly motivated to make something of an immediate impact.
