Jaden Brown sets out Sheffield Wednesday aim ahead of play-off showdown with Sunderland

Sheffield Wednesday defender Jaden Brown has admitted on Instagram that the club will be aiming to make the city proud by navigating their way through the play-offs this month.

The Owls gave themselves the opportunity to secure an immediate return to the Championship by securing victories over Fleetwood Town and Portsmouth in their final two games of the regular season.

Having finished the campaign in fourth place in the League One standings, Wednesday will now need to defeat Sunderland over two legs in order to book their place at Wembley Stadium.

Darren Moore’s side will make the trip to the Stadium of Light on Friday before hosting the Black Cats at Hillsborough on Monday.

When you consider that both sides comfortably won their respective home league fixtures against each other earlier this season, it will be interesting to see who is able to emerge victorious in the semi-finals.

Brown will be hoping to force his way into contention to be included in the club’s match-day squad for Friday’s game after being left out of the team for his side’s last four league fixtures.

Ahead of this clash, the defender has taken to Instagram to share a message with the club’s supporters.

The Verdict

In order to keep their hopes of sealing promotion to the Championship on track, Wednesday will need to be firing on all cylinders when they head to Wearside to face Sunderland later this week.

When you consider that the Black Cats have only lost one home league game since handing over the reins to Alex Neil, the Owls know that they could potentially be in for a tough evening if they fail to step up to the mark.

By securing a positive result on their travels, Wednesday may be able to use the confidence gained from this performance to their advantage when they face Sunderland again next week in front of their supporters.

As for Brown, he will need to prove his worth in training in order to have a chance of featuring in these two upcoming fixtures as he has only made one appearance since the turn of the year.
