It's been a steady start for Portsmouth this season as the men from Fratton Park aim to keep moving up the Football League pyramid.

Indeed, with three wins, two draws and three losses to their record so far this season, Pompey are right in the middle of mid-table and will obviously be aiming to kick on from there - starting this weekend.

The men from the south coast are travelling north this Saturday as they head to face Scunthorpe United - a side that's four points ahead of them and currently sitting in sixth place in the league.

For sure, then, an away win would certainly boost confidence and it seems as though Brett Pitman will be featuring for the side - despite the injury he sustained to his nose last time out.

Indeed, Kenny Jackett has confirmed that he is not going to have work done on it until after the game with Oldham next week at Fratton Park - as per the club's Twitter account:

Pitman, though, looks set to miss the Checkatrade Trophy tie with Crawley Town - though not many fans are going to be fussed about that given the reputation of the competition.

The Verdict

Brett Pitman broke his nose last week but is clearly comfortable enough to carry on with it for now and it won't be until the end of the month now until he gets it set.

It's probably a good idea, too, as the club will need him much more for league games than for the Checkatrade Trophy match.
