Sunderland manager Jack Ross has provided a positive update with regards the club's current injury list.

Top scorer Josh Maja will be fit for the Black Cats and there are no other fresh injury concerns as they prepare for the trip to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.

"Josh Maja didn't train today but that was precautionary," Ross told Sunderland's official media.

"Glenn Loovens will train on Thursday, he isn't far away but will join in with full training then."

Young striker Maja is also the division’s top scorer, netting nine goals in the opening 13 matches of the season.

Sunderland have been on impressive form themselves so far this season and currently sit third in the League One table.

Their 2-0 win away to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday brought them to within one point of Peterborough United in second place.

The Verdict

This is obviously very good news for the Black Cats.

Jack Ross has done a brilliant job in turning the spirits around at the Stadium of Light and his side look set to seriously challenge for automatic promotion at the first time of asking.

A win tomorrow and dropped points for Peterborough and they will be into second, and once there, I cannot see them dropping out.
