Sunderland are set to appoint Jack Ross as their new manager and he will immediately focus on building a squad that can bounce straight back into the Championship.

Successive relegation's understandably left fans dejected about the future of their club, but they are a lot more optimistic now following Stewart Donald's takeover along with Ross' appointment.

Yet, everyone will realise that a lot of changes need to be made after years of failure at the club.

As well as that, finances will dictate that the big earners at the Stadium of Light are shifted on but that will at least give Ross a chance to make his mark on the team.

Here we look at three signings he should look to make as soon as possible...

The attacking midfielder was crucial to St. Mirren's success under Ross this season and he scooped the Player of the Year award as well, highlighting his contribution.

Whilst Celtic secured a deal for Morgan in January, game time looks unlikely for the 21-year old next season at Parkhead, so another loan move could happen.

And, the chance to develop under Ross, as well as playing at a big club like Sunderland could benefit all parties.

Ross will know the Scottish leagues well and he will remember just how good Moult was at Motherwell over recent years.

That got the striker a move to Preston in January but it hasn't really worked out.

However, he would star in League One and Ross will back himself to find Moult's best form.

Signing a new keeper has to be a priority as Sunderland had so many issues in goal this season.

Experience would be beneficial and the former Manchester United man fits the bill. He would surely welcome regular football and is exactly what the Black Cats need.
