Sunderland completed the signing of Spurs wonderkid, Kazaiah Sterling on transfer deadline day on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Sunderland manager, Jack Ross was full of praise for the youngster on his arrival in an interview with the club's official website.

"I’m pleased he’s here because he’s a young player with a huge amount of potential and he offers a different dynamic."

Ross is pleased with the progress Sterling has made in a short space of time with Tottenham, and is keen to see how he copes with the prospect of regular first-team football.

"Tottenham have a world-class squad and despite his age, he has forced his way into it on more than one occasion, but now he has the opportunity to come here and test himself by playing senior football on a regular basis."

The 20-year-old striker is one of the brightest young prospects in English football and it will come as no surprise to see Tottenham looking at loaning him out.

A successful loan spell with Sunderland could be the best move for both parties involved Sterling will be keen to showcase his talent, whilst Jack Ross' side will be hoping he can fire them to promotion.

Sterling isn't likely to be the only striker that arrives at the Stadium of Light before the weekend, with The Chronicle's James Hunter revealing that Will Grigg is close to completing a move to the Black Cats after agreeing a deal with Wigan late on deadline day.

The Verdict:

He could be a useful addition to the Sunderland squad.

Sterling is unproven at League One level and certainly has a point to prove to Spurs and to show them what they're missing out on this season.

He could play his part in their promotion push for the remainder of this year's campaign.
