Nottingham Forest defender Jack Robinson says the team need to be mentally stronger if they are to get through this poor run of form.

Martin O'Neill's side suffered a third straight defeat in the Championship at the weekend, losing 2-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers.

The defeat means that Forest's hopes of making the play-offs are now all but over and Robinson believes that the team have to be mentally stronger to bounce back from this poor run.

“If you look at the squad, we can all improve when it comes to that mental strength,” said Robinson, as quoted by the Nottingham Post.

"I feel like, as a team, we have the players in there with quality. We just need to find a way to improve, to find that character, and get the results we are capable of.

“We have to work on things in training every day, then work to reproduce that on a Saturday.”

Robinson has been an important player for Nottingham Forest this season, making 35 appearances in the Championship and scoring two goals.

After the weekend's results, Forest are now 11th in the Championship table, eight points outside the play-off places, with just four matches to go.

The team now face an Easter weekend double-header, travelling to Sheffield United on Friday before Middlesbrough visit the City Ground on Monday.

The Verdict

Robinson is right. The Forest players have got to somehow find a way of putting the weekend's disappointment behind them and focus on bouncing back in their next game against Sheffield United.

The Reds' chances of making the play-offs are all but over, but the team must still focus on ending the season strongly and proving themselves against some quality opposition.
