Jack Hunt believes the remaining games haven't reduced in importance with Sheffield Wednesday officially safe.

The Owls won 1-0 against Hull City with Jordan Rhodes getting his first goal of the season from a well-timed header after a precise cross from Hunt.

This victory took the Owls to 50 points which means Bolton and Birmingham City can no longer catch them, so Wednesday can start to plan for next season as well as forget about this season which failed to live up to pre-season expectations even more so because last year was the club's 150th anniversary.

Hunt is still taking the remaining games seriously, according to the Sheffield Wednesday official site: "They are really important games. The manager will be looking at his team for next season."

"He’ll be looking for the players he wants and I’ve got to do all I can do to make sure I’m in that team for next season."

The Verdict

This is a key time for the players because Luhukay will be starting his preparations for his first full season as Wednesday manager and that means an overhaul is likely with some players leaving.

These remaining games are a chance to impress him as well as putting individuals in contention for places in the starting XI next season.

Hunt has been unlucky with injuries this season and his position is unlikely to be seriously under threat because he has a good record at Wednesday, but he is displaying the right mentality because he isn't taking anything for granted.
