Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has sent a message to Leeds United defender Barry Douglas after he was ruled out for the season.

The 29-year-old will be out of action for two-three months after damaging medial ligaments in his knee in last weekend’s win against Millwall and Grealish was quick to empathise.

Replying to Douglas’ post surgery Instagram update, he wrote: “Speedy recovery bro ????????????????⚽️”

The Scot replaced Ezgjan Alioski on the 46th minute during the 3-2 victory against the Lions but limped through the final stages of the match after suffering the knock with Marcelo Bielsa having already used all of his substitutions.

It was a result that lifted the Whites back into the top two with just seven games of the season left to play.

They were offered a huge hand from Bristol City who twice came from behind to see off Sheffield United 3-2 at Bramall Lane.

The verdict

It is no surprise to see Jack showing sympathy to others suffering with injuries.

He missed well over a month of the season earlier in the campaign and has suffered with knocks throughout his career.

It won’t help Leeds at all, but anything that can boost Douglas’ morale during a no doubt incredibly trying time has to be a good thing.
