Even though their initial approach was dismissed, Crystal Palace have now made an offer for Leeds United starlet Jack Clarke.

That's according to the Mirror transfer blog (19:55), which claims that the Premier League side have lodged a £3m plus add-ons offer for the talented 18-year-old.

Reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post emerged earlier in the week that the Eagles were very keen on the teenager who is making a real name for himself in the Championship.

However, they stated that the Whites are reluctant to sell and it's hard to imagine that offer is going to make them think any different.

After initially showing glimpses of his talent from the bench, Clarke has picked up a more prominent role recently and was named man of the match last time out against Derby after he was handed a start.

Known for his pace, direct style and ability on the ball, the youngster is a throwback winger and has shone under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa.

That hasn't gone unnoticed, with the Mirror also claiming that Bournemouth, Tottenham and Manchester City have been monitoring the player as well as Roy Hodgson's side.

Clarke is expected to start for Leeds against Stoke this afternoon.

The Verdict

This is a quite ridiculous offer from Palace in the current transfer climate and one that Leeds will almost certainly reject.

Clarke looks like he could become a star so to even consider offers that low would be surprising.

But, it is a worry for Leeds that top-flight sides are making offers but they will hope their current position, combined with the fact he is playing regularly, convinces the player his future lies at Elland Road.
