Stoke City have had a season to forget this season, with the club never really looking like they were going to make an immediate return to the Premier League.

One man that has been impressive though, is goalkeeper, Jack Butland who was recently named as their Player of the Year.

Butland took to Instagram after picking up the award, and issued high-praise for the goalkeeping department at the club for their contribution towards his success.

Butland has been a regular for the Potters this season, and having made 45 appearances in this year's campaign, he's clearly rated as a crucial member of the Stoke squad.

It remains to be seen as to how much longer he will remain at the club though, with AFC Bournemouth being one of the clubs previously interested in signing him earlier this year according to the Daily Mail.

Asmir Begovic has been linked with a potential return to the club if Butland does move to Bournemouth, but Stoke will surely be doing everything they can to keep him at the club.

An interesting, and potentially frantic summer awaits as Butland looks to have his long-term future resolved at the earliest of opportunities.

The Verdict:

He's fully deserved the award.

Butland has been a rare bright spark in a disappointing season for Stoke, and I would be surprised to see him remain with the club heading towards next season.

Premier League clubs will surely come calling for him.
