Liverpool take on Everton this weekend in the Premier League and will be looking to earn a big three points to get them level with their early pace-setting neighbours and to get over their loss to Aston Villa.
The Reds, since that defeat, have had a fair bit written about them and one such story that has come about has seen Jack Butland linked with a shock move from the Stoke City bench to the Reds’ first-team, taking over from Adrian as deputy whilst Alisson is injured.
Indeed, Football Insider claimed that the Reds were interested in signing Butland, with the goalkeeper struggling for form in the last few seasons and losing his spot in the Stoke team under Michael O’Neill.
It’d be a massive surprise if it happened, and it’s clear to see why when you consider reports coming out of the city that suggest there’s absolutely no chance of this deal happening whatsoever…
Is it likely to happen?
When hell freezes over, perhaps.
Liverpool are not interested at all in Butland according to the Liverpool Echo and no negotiations have taken place. They also have no intention of signing any other goalkeeper in this final week of the market.
The Butland rumour has obviously come about given Adrian’s recent form and the fact Jurgen Klopp likes to bring players in from clubs like Stoke and turn them into world-beaters.
There’s little chance of that happening with Butland in three days before a Merseyside derby, though, and it’s massively unlikely it’ll happen.
