Reading manager Jaap Stam is expecting a physical encounter on Saturday evening when promotion rivals Leeds United visit the Madejski Stadium, reports Yorkshire Evening Post Journalist, Leon Wobschall.

The Royals are currently fifth in the Sky Bet Championship, trailing fourth placed Leeds by just two-points, with eight-fixtures of the season remaining.

Previewing Saturday’s clash with Garry Monk’s side, Stam said: “It’s an important game for both sides. It will be tough. They are a very physical side."

Stam will be hopeful his side can inflict revenge on their opponents, following their 2-0 defeat at Elland Road back in December, where the Royals were picked off twice by Leeds, despite dominating possession.

Last week’s international break came at a bad time for both clubs. Reading had just recorded an excellent 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, to strengthen their hold on a Play-Off place, whilst Leeds overcame title-chasing Brighton and Hove Albion.

Victory for either side on Saturday will see them keep their slim chances of automatic promotion alive.
