Jaap Stam issues message to Reading fans – which Newcastle United fans will love

Reading manager Jaap Stam has urged the club’s supporters not to be drowned out by the noise of Newcastle United’s large away following this evening, when the two clubs meet in the Sky Bet Championship, reports Newcastle’s official Twitter account.
Rafa Benitez takes his side to the Madejski Stadium tonight, looking for their third consecutive victory on the road, after defeating Brighton and Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town last week.
Last week’s results have left the Magpies top of the Championship table with a five-point gap over second place Brighton, and looking set for a return to the Premier League.
Stam is aware that Newcastle’s fans will be in a buoyant mood following their recent victories, and with 4,000 away fans attending this evening’s game, the Dutchman expressed his concern, he said:
“We don’t want to be playing at home and the away fans are louder than the home fans.”

Reading are also doing well in the Championship, currently sitting fifth in the league, and looking to solidify their place in the top-six.
Stam’s side recorded a 2-1 victory over Wolves last weekend, and will be looking to move away from seventh-placed Fulham, who are leading the pack of teams chasing the Play-Offs.
