Watford manager Vladimir Ivic has stated that Joao Pedro is proving that he can play normally for the side, after his first Championship start on Friday.

The Brazilian was a key player in the win over Middlesbrough on Friday and continuously showed his skills and ability to drive the team forward as the Hornets came out 1-0 victors in the fixture.

Watford will hope that the signing from Fluminense can help them to an instant return to the Premier League and Ivic is seemingly keen on using him as an important member of the squad.

Ivic has expressed that he has shown that he can be one of the starters in the Watford team and even more so if he shows the character that he did on Friday night at Vicarage Road.

Speaking to the Watford Observer, Ivic said: He showed that he can be one of the starters in our team. Everything depends on him. If he will work hard, if he will show his character like today, he will play normally.

The Verdict

Watford will have a great opportunity of getting back to the Premier League this season, especially with the current squad that is at his disposal.

Pedro is a player who has the potential to light up the Championship this season, and under Ivic the pair could well develop a relationship that works wonders through the campaign.

It's an important season for the club and for Pedro and if he impresses and Watford don't go up then he might even earn himself an even bigger move in the future.
